We do this by developing technology that can sort through articles and posts online based on the qualities of the text itself, rather than anything to do with its popularity or likelihood of making you click. Overtone was founded by Philip Allin, Christopher Brennan and Reagan Nunnally.

So what are you doing on Substack?

In addition to using our tools to help all the companies that deal with content online, we also think that there needs to be a broader conversation about making the internet a better place and the metrics that we need to get there. We send out a newsletter that uses our technology to look at content online a different way and pluck pieces from the ether than might be interesting for our readers. Along with that our newsletters include blog posts about happenings at the intersection of tech and media, interviews with interesting people and updates about our company.

We think that part of moving the internet from clicks and shares to something more sustainable will involve people subscribing to get the content that they want to see from writers they want to develop a relationship with, which fits pretty well with Substack.
